MUSCAT: Karwa Motors and eMushrif have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of smart transportation technologies aimed at improving fleet management, road safety and operational efficiency.

The agreement will see the two companies explore opportunities to integrate advanced digital solutions into public and commercial transport systems, supporting the wider digital transformation of Oman's transport sector.

Under the MoU, Karwa Motors and eMushrif will assess cooperation in areas including vehicle tracking, fleet management, bus monitoring systems, driver and passenger safety technologies, operational data analysis and intelligent monitoring systems.

The partnership will also examine the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics to enhance operational performance and improve the quality of transport services.

The two companies said the collaboration combines Karwa Motors' expertise in vehicle manufacturing with eMushrif's capabilities in smart mobility technologies to deliver integrated transport solutions for government and private sector fleet operators.

Officials said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to supporting digital transformation and developing a smarter, safer and more sustainable transport ecosystem.

The partnership is also expected to contribute to Oman Vision 2040 by encouraging technology localisation, strengthening local content and promoting innovation across the transport sector.

Both companies said they intend to translate the memorandum into practical projects that will support the adoption of advanced transport technologies in Oman and regional markets while improving fleet management, operational efficiency and passenger safety. — ONA
